MTV Moscow

Thanksgiving came early this year for me. I was in Moscow 11/20-23, and of course, it was a fantastic weekend. I may have mentioned all this in a previous post -- enormous amounts of delicious food, good times with Mom and Dad by the fire, even some snow.  ...And all of that is wonderful, yeah, sure, but kind of par for the course as far as Thanksgivings go. But make no mistake: this wasn't just your run-of-the-mill 'early Thanksgiving' weekend. It was also an extraordinary weekend-long cultural celebration of elaborate song and dance rituals.

  1. Luke, this was so much fun for me to watch! I'm sitting here in the Spokane airport for about 3 1/2 hours waiting for my Northwest Trailways bus to come and take me all the way home to Moscow. Jake and I got up at 5 this morning in Delano (3 a.m. Moscow time).

Anyway, your 2 1/2 minute "MTV Moscow" made me laugh outloud several times (to the delight of the passing travelers) and even get a teary eye or two! You are funny and you do see the humor and poignant moments all around you! A true artist! Thanks for sharing this with Daddio and me and the rest of the fam! Maybe someday I'll be able to do such fancy videography and editing and then post it all to the blog. This post (as all of yours have been) is a real gift to us. Thanks again. Love you! Mom/GGW

  2. Great video, Lu. Great blog! Thanks for getting it going, and getting everybody plugged in and pumped. Whodathunk it would not only work, but look the way it does! I knew I had to get a comment on here before 2010. I'll try to be more like a regular. The last Luddite standing has now toppled. Thanks to Gidl!
    Thanks everybody else, too.
